Indoor Farm Foundation reduces hunger, protects the environment, and improves financial stability on the American farm.

American farmers are the backbone to our current food supply and must be part of its future. They possess the expertise, assets, and experience required to succeed. But nothing can be environmentally sustainable if it’s not financially sustainable or operationally supported. Farmers need buyers, inputs, financing, training, packaging, marketing, and more.

The Indoor Farm Foundation helps farmers do what they do best – grow in bulk and sell in bulk. We help them enter commercial indoor agriculture and provide a committed market for their crops at prices they can depend on. We also provide financing, training, design, construction, and distribution services that allows them to focus strictly on food production.

The environmental benefits of indoor farming are known, but financial stability has been tough to achieve. Why?

  • Adjusting to new business models can be hard for multi-generational farmers,

  • Farming margins are thin and outlooks are long,

  • Upfront costs are high and hard to justify.

There is an urgent need to:

  • Transform and re-shore our domestic produce supply chain

  • Provide more jobs and career opportunities to rural Americans

  • Sustainably grow more food on less land

  • Expand access to healthy food throughout our nation

We need vibrant ecosystems leveraging farmer-owned greenhouses and intimately aligned distribution partnerships.

The Indoor Farm Foundation helps traditional farmers expand their operations to include commercial greenhouses. As 30% of our veggies and 50% of our fruit is shipped in, a tariff-free domestic market exists. Plus, indoor agriculture eliminates weather-related crop loss.

To get these crops to market, we also established American Local Harvest – regional distribution hubs located among our partner farms. This provides farmers with a guaranteed buyer and fair prices, local inventory for local food service customers, and more nutritious food to consumers (vs. trucked in from thousands of miles away).

Indoor Farm Foundation showcases the opportunity represented by commercial indoor farming, reduces upfront cost, provides facility training, and helps the American farmer meet the financial challenges faced in rural America. And in the process adds more, healthier food to our commercial supply.
